There was once an injection moulding company in the Netherlands, which started out as a tannery in a village in the south of the country. Now, some 140 years later, this injection moulding plant has grown into an international expert in injection moulding and thermoforming plastic products with embedded electronics and packaging.
1881 | The Rompa family founded the Rompa tannery in Terheijden. The company rapidly expanded its activities with the production of bags, pouches, protective suitcases and similar items. Clients included the Dutch government, postal services and manufacturers of electronic equipment. |
1960 | Rompa started injection moulding and thermoforming to expand its business into the production of plastic products and packaging material. |
1981 | Celebration of the 100-year existence. |
1997 | The first international branch of Rompa Group opened its doors in Hong Kong, China. |
2005 | Rompa Group acquired an injection moulding shop in Vyškov, Czech Republic. |
2005 | Rompa Group opened its first production location in Jiangmen, China, called Rompa CN. |
2006 | In order to expand onto the American continent, Rompa entered into a joint venture with Indepak, a manufacturer of thermoformed products in Portland (USA). |
2006 | Celebration of the 125-year existence. |
2008 | The Dutch company Technoplast joined Rompa Group. With the addition of this new partner, Rompa’s knowledge and skills within the plastics industry were broadened and became even more competitive. |
2013 | Rompa CN was bursting at the seams. A new factory was opened 3 km away to facilitate Rompa’s continued growth. |
2014 | Late May, the Rompa NL headquarters relocated to a new office in Tilburg. |
2015 | In January, Rompa Group entered into a joint venture with the American company TransNav, called TransRompa. |
2015 | Rompa Group entered into a joint venture with RH-Packaging. |
2016 | In October, Rompa SK was founded in Bardejov, Slovakia, a result of the expansion of and optimism about our assembly activities. |
2017 | Rompa implemented its first Surface Mount Technology production line at Rompa CN in order to become an entirely in-house supplier of end products with design, plastics, electronics, assembly, packaging and delivery. |
2018 | Foundation of a new Rompa factory: Rompa DE in Leipheim, Germany. |
2019 | Rompa Group acquires ITB Group, a Dutch plastics specialist with branches in the Netherlands, the Czech Republic and Mexico. |
